The Flying Unicorn Mojo Monday Challenge

My layout features a picture of a couple from the Golden Era of Hollywood - Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.  I love pictures, movies - all things from that wonderful era.  Anyway, my layout will be entered into the Mojo Monday challenge at The Flying Unicorn.  Directly below is the sketch.

Well, these are the first four pages in my art journal.  I don't know what the first page was - except an experiment with some paper and colors.  The second page with the gold I liked a bit better.  My third and fourth pages I like even more.  Although I don't know exactly what I am going for when I sit down.  You can see that I leaned, once again, to the blue family in my background.  I added texture to my background and, once it was dried, I added a bit of color to it.  I also added a few stampings in the BG and my titles on each page.  The chipboard frames I used I wanted sort of a grungy feel to them -so I embossed them several times with teal and brown - wanting sort of a peeled paint look.  I added some paper and a couple of pretty butterflies in the frame.  Lastly, I added a couple of grungy looking ticket stubs.  So, all-in-all, I think I am making more progress - learning a bit as I go.

DP - K&Co. Ancestry.com
Mediums:  Art Basics Clear Gesso, Art Basics Heavy White Gesso; Art Basics Opaque Modeling Paste
Chipboard:  Sa Crafters
Embossing Powder:  Ranger
Stencils:  Bo Bunny(2nd page); Tim Holtz Bubbles (3rd page); Tim Holtz Shattered (4th page)
Adhesives:  Glue Gun and Beacon's Fabri Tac
Misc.:  7 Gypsies Ephemera (ticket stubs); Ranger Vintage Photo Ink for distressing; Staz-On Black for inking the Prima Vintage Vanity stamp

I will keep at it - trying to figure out what I really want!

Hi - back with the finished cover of my new Art Journal.  It seems everyone uses their Art Journals in different ways.  I've decided that this journal will just contain experimental pages, i.e., color combos, different types of color - sprays, watercolors, etc.  And, I will also be experimenting with the different media types, gesso, paste.

I really like how my cover turned out and I love my wings.  Of course, there is a lot of blues and golds - because, yep, I do love my blues!  And, I've said this to several people - that I am like an old crow and attracted to anything that sparkles, glimmers and shines!

So, that's it for today - oh - more snow is coming our way Saturday and Sunday - I know I'm really excited (sarcasm dripping heavily)!

Take care - later gator!

Here are a couple of mixed media tags I had also started in January - and just finished in the last day or so. I really love adding texture with pastes and colors.

My favorite is the one on the right.  I used Art Basics Heavy Black Gesso - and the coverage is awesome.  Next I added texture with Art Extravagance Modeling Paste and added color to it to achieve the blue background designs with a stencil.

For the tag on the left - I used Art Basics Heavy White Gesso and again Art Extravagance Modeling Paste and some color.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you like my projects.  Later gator!

I have really come to enjoy working with mixed media and especially working with canvases, tags and scrapbook layouts.  I did several scrapbook albums many years ago - but they weren't nearly so involved and they didn't use colors and mediums.

I usually put recipes with my posts - but these were started mid-January and just now finished.  So, hopefully, in the future, I'll start tracking my supplies once again.

Thanks for stopping by - later gator!
